Volunteer at Puget Sound Christian Clinic
We all know that health care is expensive these days, and for the low-income population without health insurance, the cost is often prohibitive. This is why volunteers are critically important to the mission at Puget Sound Christian Health Clinic. Without health care professionals and other volunteers, we would not be able to serve these needy individuals and families by providing a wide variety of needed health and spiritual services.
Individuals and groups donate their time, talents and financial resources. Some provide direct patient care, while many others serve in administrative and supportive roles. Each volunteer position at the clinic is critical to providing quality, compassionate health care and showing Jesus to the patients we serve.
We’ve listed a few of our ongoing volunteer needs below. Please review these positions and consider getting involved. YOU can make a difference in the lives of your neighbors simply by giving your time, talents and your finances.
Health Care Providers
Physicians
Physicians Assistants
Nurses
Nurse Practitioners
Dentists
Dental Assistants
Hygienists
Professional Counselors
Pharmacists
Generally, our health care providers volunteer for one or two 4-hour shifts per month. With the exception of dental assistants, we require our volunteer providers to be licensed and have malpractice insurance. If you need malpractice insurance, it is available at no cost to you through Western Washington Area Health Education Center (AHEC). If you are retired and your license has not lapsed, AHEC will also pay for your license renewal fee.
Spiritual Counselors
Spiritual counselors serve one or two 4-hour shifts per month. Their responsibilities include loving our patients by praying with and for them, answering their questions, connecting patients with other social service agencies within our community when possible, and occasionally following up with patients via phone during the week.
Office/ Support Workers
Our office and support volunteers perform data entry, answer phones, assist with mailings, schedule volunteers to serve, and many other tasks essential to keeping a clinic open.
Computer Support
Our tech-savvy volunteers keep our computer system up-to-date and virus free, as well as train volunteers to use our medical charting system.
Cooks
Our volunteers who serve during clinic hours often need a meal or snack during the shift. To keep volunteers going, we provide meals every Wednesday, some Thursday evenings and Friday mornings. We need volunteers who would be willing to provide meals or snacks for 10-12 volunteers at least once each quarter.
Prayer Support
We believe that the clinic is sustained through prayer. If you would like to pray for us regularly, please call (206) 363-4105 and ask to receive our prayer letter via email.
Contact us today! We will be happy to show the clinic to you and discuss your gifts and talents, so that you can make a difference in the lives of the low-income uninsured in our community.
